The programme is open to continuous applications from all Australian universities to enter the participant network. The NHRP encourages research cooperation across universities and internationally and develops research capacity by supporting postgraduate researchers, post-doctrinals and young scientists, including indigenous scientists and researchers. NHRP research funding is provided through a competitive annual funding cycle based on the absolute value of demand. The NHRP establishes a database for applied practical research to support policy development and adds new knowledge on housing studies and related disciplines. The CRNN`s research program is updated annually to show the way forward in the development of this database and to set priorities for the annual funding cycle. The research programme is developed in consultation with the AHURI Limited Board, the Chief Executives of the Government, the Australian Government, the relevant state and territory governments, the Directors of the Research Centre and the NHRP Research Panel.
